The Implementation Support Unit for the Biological Weapons Convention was officially launched on Monday 20 August 2007.
The launch was commemorated by a function co-hosted by the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (both New York and Geneva), the United Nations Office at Geneva and the Mission of Pakistan (as Chairman of the 2007 meetings of the BWC and former President of the Sixth Review Conference, which mandated the unit). Representatives of the three organisations made statements to mark this important event. Participants were then briefed on the unit by its Head.
