2019 Session of the Group of Experts



The 2019 Amended Protocol II Group of Experts will take place on 22 August (10 am to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm) in Room XVII at the Palais des Nations. Ambassador Zbigniew Czech of Poland will chair the Group of Experts as President-designate of the Twenty-first Annual Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II.

The final document of the Twentieth Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Amended Protocol II provides guidance and direction for the work of the Experts to be undertaken in 2019.






The main issues that will be addressed at the 2019 Group of Experts include:
  1. Review of the operation and status of the Protocol, consideration of matters arising from reports by High Contracting Parties according to Article 13 (4) of Amended Protocol II, as well as on development of technologies to protect civilians against the indiscriminate effect of mines;
  2. Improvised explosive devices (IED), under the overall responsibility of the Coordinator, Colonel Pascal Levant of France, to be assisted by Ms. Diana Esperanza Castillo Castro of Colombia.
