The Acting Director-General opened the 67th session of the World Health Assembly (WHA).

The Acting Director-General met with H.E. Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, Minister of Health of Greece.

The Acting Director-General, in his capacity as Acting Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament (CD) and Personal Representative of the Secretary-General to the CD, participated in presidential consultations of the CD.

The Acting Director-General met with H.E. Mr. Peter Woolcott, Permanent Representative of Australia to the Conference on Disarmament (CD), H.E. Mr. Luis Gallegos Chiriboga, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Ecuador to the CD, and H.E. Mr. Toshio Sano, Permanent Representative of Japan to the CD. The discussed the latest developments in the field of disarmament in the CD.

The Acting Director-General met with Ms. Sandra Aviles, Officer-in-Charge of the FAO Office in Geneva. They discussed cooperation between UNOG and the FAO.

The Acting Director-General met with H.E. Mr. Giorgio Napolitano, President of the Republic of Italy. The President met with Italian nationals working in several UN organizations in Geneva.

The Acting Director-General attended a farewell dinner hosted by Mr. Ivan Pictet, Chairman of the Fondation pour Genève, in honour of H.E. Mr. Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Acting Director-General, in his capacity as Acting Executive Secretary of the UNECE, met with Mr. Sharon Kedmi, Chairperson of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Integration, and with Mr. Roman V. Sobolev, Chairperson of the Committee on Trade.

The Acting Director-General, in his capacity as Acting Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the Secretary-General to the Conference, delivered a statement in the plenary meeting of the Conference.

The Acting Director-General initiated a new series of monthly informal luncheons for the Heads of the United Nations and others entities based in Geneva to enable ongoing reflection on common challenges, facilitate a strategic exchange of ideas and strengthen cross-cutting cooperation.

The Acting Director-General shared his experience with participants of the UN Leadership Development Programme.

The Acting Director-General attended a farewell lunch hosted by H.E. Ms. Mariangela Zappia, Chief of the Permanent Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, in honour of H.E. Mr. Hanns Heinrich Schumacher, Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Acting Director-General chaired a UNOG Executive Briefing by Mr. Alexander Zuev, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan.

The Acting Director-General participated in a dinner hosted by H.E. Mr. Zamir Akram, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Acting Director-General, in his capacity as Acting Executive Secretary of the UNECE, met with Joint Inspection Unit inspectors in the context of their review of the “Effectiveness of regional interface mechanisms for governance: coordination and collaboration among Regional Commissions”.

The Acting Director-General participated in the expanded meeting of the Management Committee on Enterprise Risk Assessment.

The Acting Director-General met with Ms. Sarah Cook, Director of the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD). They discussed cooperation between UNOG and UNRISD, in particular with regard to the promotion of “International Geneva”.

The Acting Director-General visited the International Telecommunication Union museum, “ICT Discovery Museum”, which showcases the evolution of information and communication technologies.

The Acting Director-General participated in a tree planting ceremony organized on the occasion of the International day of Biodiversity.

The Acting Director-General participated in an award ceremony following a competition organized for high-school students by the Eduki Foundation, with the support of the Canton de Genève, the Fondation pour Genève, and the United Nations Information Service, on the theme “Freedom of expression on the Internet: limits and opportunities for youth”.

The Acting Director-General participated in a dinner hosted in his honour by H.E. Mr. Toshio Sano, Permanent Representative of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament.

The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Fiji, H.E. Ms. Nazhat Shameem, presented her credentials to the Acting Director-General.

The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Rwanda, H.E. Mr. François Xavier Ngarambé, presented his credentials to the Acting Director-General.

The Acting Director-General visited the Permanent Mission of Serbia to sign the condolence book on the occasion of the flood disaster.

The Acting Director-General met with Ms. Emilia Nazarenko, President of the Foreign Press Association in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. They discussed the work of the United Nations in Geneva.
