The Acting Director-General participated in a the opening of a meeting of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) Preparatory Committee for the Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.

The Acting Director-General opened the exhibition “The Girls from Room 28, in Remembrance of the Children of the Theresienstadt Ghetto”, organized on the occasion of the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust.

The new Permanent Representative of Brazil to the Conference on Disarmament, H.E Mr. Pedro Motta Pinto Coelho, presented his letter of nomination to the Acting Director-General.

The Acting Director-General met with H.E. Mr. So Se Pyong, Permanent Representative of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva. They discussed regional developments as well as other issues on the United Nations agenda.

The Acting Director-General accepted the donation of a "Waka", a symbol of New Zealand's indigenous Mãori culture to UNOG from H.E. Ms. Judith Collins, Minister of Justice of New Zealand. He expressed his appreciation for the gift, noting the work of the United Nations in Geneva on the protection and promotion of human rights, including those of indigenous peoples.

The Acting Director-General met with members of the United Nations Foundation.

Representing the Secretary-General, the Acting Director-General continued his participation in the meeting of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) Preparatory Committee for the Fourth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.

The Acting Director-General hosted a luncheon for H.E. Ms. Karen Pierce, Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Acting Director-General opened the UNOG observance of the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust.

The Acting Director-General attended the signing of a cooperation agreement with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

The Acting Director-General met with Ms. Alanna Armitage, Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Office in Geneva. They discussed issues related to the post-2015 development framework and coherence within the United Nations system.

The Acting Director-General met with H.E. Ms. Carole Lanteri, Permanent Representative of the Principality of Monaco to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, and H.E. Ms. Sylvia Poll Ahrens, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Costa Rica to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Acting Director-General participated in an exchange with civil society during which he stressed the need to better integrate the voice of civil society in the work of the United Nations, including with regard to the Conference on Disarmament. He also highlighted the importance of civil society input to work on the post-2015 development agenda, human rights and disarmament.

The Acting Director-General hosted the Diplomatic Club of Geneva for their New Year’s reception. In his remarks, he underlined the importance of the activities of the Diplomatic Club in creating synergies between actors in International Geneva.

The Acting Director-General met with H.E. Ms. Nakpa Polo, Permanent Representative of the Togolese Republic to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva. They discussed Togo’s contributions to the United Nations, including to the UNOG Cultural Activities Programme.

The Acting Director-General met with Mr. Roland Schatz, founder and President of Media Tenor. They discussed issues related to media analysis and strategy.

The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Colombia, H.E. Mr. Juan José Quintana, presented his credentials to the Acting Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The Acting Director-General met with H.E. Mr. Vinicio Mati, Permanent Representative of Italy to the Conference on Disarmament.

The Acting Director-General opened the UNOG Library Talk and took part in the launch of the book "Shared Responsibility: The United Nations in the Age of Globalization".

The Acting Director-General chaired a UNOG Executive Briefing with Mr. Tarek Mitri, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.

The Acting Director-General hosted a luncheon for H.E. Mr. Jorge Lomónaco Tonda, Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Acting Director-General met with H.E. Ms. Thembayena Annastasia Dlamini, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Swaziland to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva to bid farewell prior to her departure from Geneva.
