The Director-General attended a reception held on the occasion of the National Day of Malaysia hosted by H.E. Mr. Mazlan Muhammad, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and H.E. Ms. Mariam Md.Salleh, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the World Trade Organization.

The Director-General attended a luncheon hosted by H.E. Mr. Alexey Borodavkin, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Director-General participated by videoconference in a meeting of the Senior Management Group, chaired by the Secretary-General.

The Director-General opened the annual meeting of the United Nations Library and Information Network for Knowledge Sharing (UN-LINKS).

The Director-General attended a reception hosted by H.E. Mr. Hanns Heinrich Schumacher, Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and by H.E. Mr. Michael Biontino, Permanent Representative of Germany to the Conference on Disarmament, on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of Germany’s accession to the United Nations.

The new Permanent Representative of Ireland, Ms. Patricia O’Brien, presented her credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed her as her country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Ado Elhadji Abou, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The Director-General met with Ms. Arancha Gonzalez, Executive Director of the International Trade Centre to discuss issues of common interest.

The Director-General opened a high-level panel discussion organized by Switzerland, in association with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the University of Geneva, entitled “Simply Put – Water is Life”.

The Director-General welcomed 40 newly arrived staff members working for UNOG and other United Nations entities in Geneva, as they took the Oath of Office.

The Director-General participated in the official inauguration of flags on the Mont-Blanc Bridge organized by the City of Geneva, in observance of the International Day of Peace.

The Director-General opened a reception in celebration of the launch of the ‘Geneva Peace Talks’, a unique and innovative event organized for the International Day of Peace by UNOG, Interpeace and the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, with support from the City and Canton of Geneva, as well as the Swiss Confederation and the Fondation pour Genève.
