The new Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Denmark, Mr. Carsten Ulrich Staur, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Vladislav Mladenovic, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The Director-General received the letter of nomination from Mr. Henk Cor Van der Kwast, newly-appointed Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Conference on Disarmament and welcomed him in his new role.

In his role as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Conference, the Director-General participated in its presidential consultations.

The Director-General received the letter of nomination from Mr. Gerhard J.W. Putman-Cramer, Permanent Observer for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The new Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Mr. Marciano Octavio Garcia da Silva, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The Director-General attended a reception in honour of the 2013 United Nations Disarmament fellows.

The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Mali, Mrs. Aya Thiam Diallo, presented her credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed her as her country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Mehmet Ferden Çarikçi, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

In his role as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Conference, the Director-General participated in its plenary meeting.

The Director-General attended a luncheon hosted by Mr. Zamir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Director-General met Ms. Carla María Rodríguez Mancia, Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva prior to her departure from Geneva and wished her the best in her future endeavours.

The Director-General met Ms. Graça Andresen Guimarães, Permanent Representative of Portugal to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva prior to her departure from Geneva and wished her the best in her future endeavours.

The Director-General met with a high-level delegation from China, including Mr. ZHAO Jin, Chairman of Yunnan Association for Cultural Exchanges with Foreign Countries and Mr. DING Xiaoming, Deputy Director-General of the State Council Information Office, prior to the opening of the Chinese Cultural Festival held at the Palais des Nations.

The Director-General attended a reception in honour of the 2013 UN Disarmament Fellows and also to bid farewell, hosted by Mr. Mari Amano, Permanent Representative of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament.

The Director-General met Mr. Mari Amano, Permanent Representative of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament prior to his departure from Geneva and wished him the best in his future endeavours.

The Director-General participated via video-conference in a meeting of the Senior Advisers on Management chaired by the United Nations Secretary-General.

The Director-General attended a retirement ceremony for officers of UNOG’s Security and Safety Service and thanked them for their loyalty and service.

The new Permanent Representative of Germany to the Conference on Disarmament, Mr. Michael Biontino, presented his letter of nomination to the Director-General.

The Director-General met Bertrand de Crombrugghe, Permanent Representative of Belgium to the United Nations Office and specialized institutions in Geneva, and Ms. Carole Lanteri, Permanent Representative of the Principality of Monaco to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva to discuss issues of common interest.

The Director-General met Mr. Stephen Tull, United Nations Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Kazakhstan to discuss regional developments.

The Director-General opened a screening of the film “Embrace! A World Free of Nuclear Weapons” on the occasion of the International Day against Nuclear Tests, organized by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Director-General participated in the 16th “Fête de la Communication”, organized by the Swiss Press Club.
