The Director-General represented the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the opening of the 66th World Health Assembly, held at the UN Office at Geneva.

The Director-General attended the 4th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction, organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, in the presence of the Deputy Secretary-General, Mr. Jan Eliasson, and select senior Government representatives.

The new Permanent Representative of New Zealand, Ms. Amanda Ellis, presented her credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed her as her country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The Director-General attended a reception hosted by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the 4th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction.

The new Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Mohsen Naziri Asl, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The Director-General attended a luncheon hosted by H. E. Mr. Zamir Akram, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in honour of H. E. Ms. Laura Kennedy, Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the Conference on Disarmament.

The Director-General participated in a dinner hosted by H. E. Mr. Yoichi Otabe, Permanent Representative of Japan, in honour of H. E. Mr. Hideaki Ueda, Ambassador of Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

The Director-General attended a reception in celebration of the National Day of Cameroon, organized by H.E. Mr. Anatole Fabien Marie Nkou, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cameroon to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Director-General, in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Conference, participated in a plenary session of the Conference.

The new Permanent Representative of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Mrs. Rhoda M. Jackson presented her credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed her as her country’s representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The Director-General attended a dinner Dinner hosted by Mr. Oðuz Demiralp, Permanent Representative of Turkey in honour of Ms. Laura Kennedy, Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the Conference on Disarmament.
