The Director-General gave the keynote speech at the opening of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) training course on “Disarmament and Weapons of Mass Destruction: Challenges and Responses”.
The Director-General attended a reception to celebrate the Independence Day of Belarus, hosted by Mr. Mikhail Khvostov, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
The new Permanent Representative of Finland, Mrs. Päivi Kairamo-Hella, presented her credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed her as her country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The new Permanent Representative of Belgium, Mr. Bertrand de Crombrugghe de Picquendaele, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Director-General met Ms. Aline Plançon, Chief of Projects, Medical Products Counterfeiting and Pharmaceutical Crime, INTERPOL to discuss issues of common interest.
The Director-General attended a presidential dinner in honor of Mrs. Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, President of the Swiss Confederation, organized by the Foreign Press Association in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

The Director-General met with Mr. Yahya Salim Al-Wahaibi, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman, for a farewell call prior to his departure from Geneva.
The Director-General met with Mr. Tibor Tóth, Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization.
The Director-General met with Mrs. Martha Moreno, Minister, Chargé d'affaires a.i., Permanent Mission of Paraguay to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva to discuss issues of common interest.
