The new Permanent Representative of Afghanistan, Mr. Nanguyalai Tarzi, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Director-General, in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Conference, participated in presidential consultations of the Conference.
The Director-General opened the exhibition “Art rupestre: une lecture de la préhistoire”, which featured examples of prehistoric artwork over 20,000 years old.

The Director-General met with Mr. Maher Nasser, Officer-in-Charge of the UN Department of Public Information (DPI).

The Director-General opened the annual meeting of the United Nations Communications Group. He highlighted the common challenges of new technologies and the fast-paced communications environment.
The Director-General met Mr. Nasser Al Kidwa and Mr. Jean-Marie Guéhenno, Deputies to the Joint Special Envoy for the United Nations and the League of Arab States on Syria, to discuss ongoing developments.
The Director-General met Mr. Jean-Dominique Vassalli, Rector of the University of Geneva, and Ms. Micheline Calmy-Rey, former President of the Swiss Confederation who is currently a guest professor at the University.
