The Director-General participated in the opening of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2012 and delivered the statement of the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the occasion, who urged the Forum to find better ways for the world to use information and communications technologies to protect people and the planet.
The Director-General met Mr. Sven Alkalaj, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) to discuss continued cooperation and regional developments.
The Director-General met with Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, President of the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Mr. Cosimo Risi, Ambassador Permanent Representative of Italy to the Conference on Disarmament presented his letter of nomination to the Director-General, who welcomed him in his new role.
The Director-General participated in a plenary session of the Conference on Disarmament with the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, who addressed the session.
The Director-General met with Mr. Antonio Guterres, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). They discussed issues of common interest and the advancement of shared priorities.
The Director-General met with UNOG staff during a town hall meeting in which he highlighted recent significant events, as well as critical services and support provided to further key United Nations goals.
The new Permanent Representative of the Seychelles, Ms. Vivianne Fock Tave, presented her credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed her as her country’s representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Director-General attended a reception organized by the Administrative Council of the City of Geneva for the opening of an exhibition developed by the Swiss Malaria Group.

The Director-General participated in the commemoration of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day and delivered the message of the UN Secretary-General for the occasion.
The Director-General met with the Executive Committee of Geneva Association of United Nations Correspondents (ACANU). He expressed his appreciation for the positive relationship between the press corps at the Palais and UNOG as well as ACANU’s recent initiatives.
The new Permanent Representative of Algeria, Mr. Boudjemâa Delmi, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The new Permanent Observer of the African Union, Mr. Jean-Marie Ehouzou, presented his letter of nomination to the Director-General, who welcomed him in his new role.
