The new Permanent Representative of Bulgaria, Mr. Ivan Piperkov, presented his credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The Director-General participated by videoconference in a meeting of the Senior Management Group, chaired by the United Nations Secretary-General.

The Director-General met Mr. Hannu Himanen, Permanent Representative of Finland and Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament to express his best wishes upon his forthcoming departure from Geneva.

The Director-General opened an exhibition which showcased 43 UNESCO World Heritage sites located in Italy.

The Director-General attended a reception hosted by Mr. Hanns H. Schumacher, Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The new Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone, Ms. Yvette Stevens, presented her credentials to the Director-General, who welcomed her as her country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.

The Director-General met Mr. Cheikh Ahmed Ould Zahaf, Permanent Representative of Mauritania to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva to discuss humanitarian and security issues in the regional context.

The Director-General met Ms. Soline Nyirahabimana, Permanent Representative of Rwanda, who expressed her gratitude for the support of UNOG’s staff in organizing the event commemorating the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda.

The Director-General participated in an international seminar on “Assessing the prospects for the implementation of Article VI of the “Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)”.

The Director-General attended a celebration of the 64th Independence Day of the State of Israel organized by Mr. Aharon Leshno-Yaar, Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

The Director-General attended a reception on the occasion of the international seminar on “Assessing the prospects for the implementation of Article VI of the “Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)”.
