The Director-General, in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Conference, participated in presidential consultations of the Conference on Disarmament.

The Director-General participated by videoconference in a meeting of the Senior Management Group, chaired by the United Nations Secretary-General.

The Director-General attended a working lunch with the United Nations-Arab League Joint Special Envoy for Syria, Mr. Kofi Annan. Both discussed the current situation in Syria.

The Director-General met with Mr. Hannu Himanen, Permanent Representative of Finland and Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament.

The Director-General, in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Conference, participated in a plenary meeting of the Conference on Disarmament.

The Director-General attended a working lunch with the Conference on Disarmament P-6 and regional coordinators hosted by Mr. Hannu Himanen, Permanent Representative of Finland and Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament.

The Director-General participated in a round-table discussion organized by UNOG, the International Organization of la Francophonie (OIF) and the Association of Correspondents Accredited to the United Nations in Geneva (ACANU) on "Communicating to women on global issues".

The Director-General attended a reception organized by the Diplomatic Club of Geneva, with the participation of Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Governor of California, United States of America.

The Director-General attended a reception held in commemoration of the March 2011 earthquake which struck the eastern coast of Japan, organized by Mr. Yoichi Otabe, Permanent Representative of Japan.

The Director-General, in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Conference, participated in a plenary meeting of the Conference on Disarmament.

The Director-General met with Mr. William C. Potter, Director of the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies to discuss issues of common interest.

The Director-General attended a reception on the occasion of the opening of the Geneva International Auto Show, attended by Ms. Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, President of the Swiss Confederation.

The Director-General opened the exhibition “Soul Gazers: Engaging Men for the Abandonment of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM)”, which featured paintings by male, African artists to support the abandonment of the practice and the promotion of the rights of women around the world.

The Director-General participated in an event organized by the non-governmental organization Save a Child’s Heart.

The Director-General attended a reception hosted by Mr. Christian Strohal, Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations Office and specialized institutions in Geneva.
