The Director-General addressed an event, organized in collaboration between the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan and the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, to mark the International Day against Nuclear Tests.
The Director-General received the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Michel Jarraud, together with WMO Assistant Secretary-General Elena Maneankova.

Mr. Steffen Kongstad of the Kingdom of Norway presented his credentials to the Director-General who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Director-General, in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Conference, met with Mr. Jarmo Viinanen, Chairman of the First Committee of the sixty-sixth session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Director-General met with Mr. Johnston Barkat who serves as the Head of the United Nations Ombudsman and Mediation Service for an exchange of views on informal dispute resolution at the United Nations and the strengthening of staff-management relations.

Mr. Abdelrahman Mohamed Abdalla Dhirar of the Republic of Sudan presented his credentials to the Director-General who welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Director-General, in his capacity as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament (CD) and Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Conference, took part in a Plenary Meeting of the CD.
The Director-General attended a reception hosted by Mr. Akio Suda, Permanent Representative of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament in honour of the 2011 United Nations Disarmament Fellows from Japan.
The Director-General met with representatives of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors to highlight the importance of multilingualism at the United Nations.
The Director-General participated in the 14th annual Fête de la Communication in Geneva.

The Director-General attended a reception on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the independence of Ukraine.
The Director-General met Mr. Zamir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to discuss issues related to regional developments and cooperation with the United Nations.
Mr. Raimonds Jansons of the Republic of Latvia presented his credentials to the Director-General who wished him success as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Director-General participated by video-conference in the Management Committee meeting chaired by the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General in which cross-cutting management issues of the Organization were discussed.
