H.E. Mr. Maung Wai of the Union of Myanmar presented his credentials to the Director-General.

The Director-General met with the members of the Investments Committee of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund.

The Director-General opened the “Tribes in Transition” photographic exhibition and dance by the Yellow Bird Apache Dancers, organized by the Permanent Mission of the United States of America on the occasion of the 4th Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The Director-General met with Ms. Angela Kane, Under-Secretary-General for Management. Discussions included human and financial resource management, efficiency efforts and the Strategic Heritage Plan for the renovation of the Palais des Nations.

The Director-General met with Mr. SHA Zukang, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs to discuss the support of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs to the ongoing substantive session of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the preparations for Rio+20 and the work towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, including on education.

The Director-General met with Mr. Thomas Stelzer, Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination and Inter-Agency Affairs, for exchanges on the substantive session of ECOSOC and system-wide coherence.

The Director-General met with Mr. Ion Botnaru, Director, General Assembly and ECOSOC Affairs Division, Department for General Assembly and Conference Management to discuss conference management issues with regard to the ECOSOC substantive session currently being held in Geneva.

The Director-General met with Mr. Lazarous Kapambwe, President of the Economic and Social Council, and Permanent Representative of Zambia to the United Nations in New York to discuss main conclusions of the High-level segment of the ECOSOC substantive session as well as upcoming segments on coordination, operational activities and humanitarian affairs.

The Director-General met with Mr. Yahya Salim Al-Wahaibi, Permanent Representative of Oman to discuss that country’s contributions to the work of the United Nations and continued cooperation.

The Director-General met with Mr. Mojtaba Kazazi, Executive Secretary, United Nations Compensation Commission to discuss the ongoing work of the Commission as well as current priorities.

The Director-General attended a reception on the occasion of the National Day of France at the Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations Office at Geneva.

The Director-General opened a photographic exhibition, sponsored by the University for Peace, which showcased a variety of peace and conflict situations.

The Director-General met with a group of ambassadors who attended a luncheon in honour of Mr. John Duncan, Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the Conference on Disarmament, who is to leave his post and depart back to the United Kingdom.
