The Director-General delivered the message of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to the Fifth Conference of the High Contracting Parties to Protocol V to the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW).
The Director-General participated in the ceremony held in commemoration of the International Day of Peace, and the 50th anniversary of the death of former United Nations Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld.

The Director-General received credentials from the new Permanent Representative of Cyprus, Mr. Leonidas Pantelides, and welcomed him as his country’s new representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Director-General had a meeting with Dr. Peter Maurer, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation and Ambassador Fred Tanner, Director, Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP).
The Director-General met with Mr. Scott M. Weber, Director-General, Interpeace to discuss the work of the organization in peacebuilding around the world, as well as UNOG’s participation in the annual Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, to be held on 2 December 2011.

The Director-General met with Mr. Tomihisa Taue, Mayor of Nagasaki, Mr. Kazumi Matusi, Mayor of Hiroshima and Professor Shunichi Yamashita, Medical Faculty, University of Nagasaki.
The Director-General opened the exhibition “Toward a World Free of Nuclear Weapons”, which showcases the historical context and present-day efforts for nuclear disarmament.
