Director-General Participates in Plenary Meeting of Group of Francophone Ambassadors

The Director-General participated in a plenary meeting of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors, organized by the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie. In his remarks, the Director-General presented the “five generational opportunities” of the Secretary-General for his second term and expressed his appreciation for the contributions of francophone countries in building democracy and keeping the peace. He highlighted the importance of multilingualism at the United Nations and shared his views on the critical situation in the Conference on Disarmament. He encouraged Member States to remain engaged in exploring options to move ahead so that the efficiency and profile of the Conference would not be undermined.
