Director-General Attends Reception in Honour of 2011 UN Disarmament Fellows
1 September 2011
The Director-General attended a reception hosted by Mr. Akio Suda, Permanent Representative of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament in honour of the 2011 United Nations Disarmament Fellows from Japan. Implemented by the Geneva Branch of the Office for Disarmament Affairs (ODA), the Fellowship Programme has trained over 600 public officials from about 150 Member States since 1978, a large number of whom are now in positions of responsibility in the field of disarmament within their own Governments. From 25 to 30 fellowships are awarded every year.
