Director-General Opens Flag Raising Ceremony for South Sudan

The Director-General opened a flag raising ceremony for the Republic of South Sudan, the world’s newest nation and the 193rd Member State of the United Nations. At the ceremony, the Director-General noted that the flag was raised at the Palais des Nations to show the support of the United Nations family in Geneva for South Sudan, and that the United Nations would continue to provide support to the country so that it can achieve its potential.
