The Director-General participated in an event marking the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, held at the Palais des Nations. With the participation of the Permanent Representatives of Israel, Switzerland and Poland, the commemoration also featured an address by the daughter of Mr. Carl Lutz, a Swiss diplomat who helped save tens of thousands of Jews from deportation to Nazi extermination camps during the Holocaust. In his remarks, the Director-General honoured Mr. Lutz’s acts of bravery, and stated that this International Day remains a crucial day when we remember, mourn, learn, and recommit to counter such evil in the future.
